60% there…

Well, Well…look who just popped up for me to reconnect with on Facebook! I’m thinking of you too Court, and guess what!?!   We are 40% away from meeting our goal of $15,000 you gave us as one of your last wishes.   I love you and I try everyday to make you proud! You taught me so much. Just a couple examples are 1. Determination and 2. Endurance… I’m working on it!

As most of you know, an old friend of mine from High School, Sarah Brady Smith and I worked on a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fundraiser at an upscale hotel in uptown Dallas called Hotel ZaZa.  This event was thrown together and planned in less than 4 weeks.  We had numerous generous donation items for Silent Auction and Raffles totallying over $10,000.   A couple of examples of the items were a Celebrity Chef Experience,  Sportsradio 1310 The Ticket Experience – an hour on the set with the Sports Radio talkshow and touring the radio station,  and The Ultimate Dallas Stars Hockey fan package with Team Signed Jersey and 4 tickets just to name a few.  The night of the event it was raining and we just weren’t sure how many would show up.   I hadn’t been able to sleep in a few days, worrying over how the event would go.   Neither Sarah or I had put on an event like this before.   I had prayed to God that he would give me the strength and help the event to run smoothly.   Well, it was a huge success and we had nearly 200+ guests, we raised over $9000 and with a couple of hiccups on Dallas Stars/Mavs tickets…everything ran pretty seamless.  Thank YOU Jesus!

It’s amazing how God brings you together with people.  At the event I met a sweetheart, named Amy Allen.  She has a nephew with CF and is on the Board for the 2010 Collin County Great Strides Walk.  She proceeds to tell me at the event that they have decided to make the walk in Honor of Courtney Hill this year!  What can I say, but what an tremendous honor!!!   My sister’s and I have joined Amy as committee members to help the Collin County GS Walk be a huge success and are looking forward to the challenge.

Courtney, all I can think about is your beautiful smile, your contagious laugh and heart warming love that has kept me strong.   We are 60% there and it’s all for you and supporting your Cyster’s and Fibros.

All My Love,

Megan

You did a fabulous job on the Zaza event, Meg. I’m so proud of you and I know Courtney is too! I know she is smiling down on you now, and I know she would be impressed with what you accomplished that night for the CF Foundation. You are amazing and I love you very much!!

That is a great story. I was so upset that I couldn’t make it to the ZaZa event but I am going to make it to the walk no matter what. I can’t wait.
